1812. Overton-110, Rarity 1. NGC graded MS-66. Boldly struck with light toning and strong luster and full definition on all of Liberty's curls. Notice theh depth of the star centers too, which are seldomm found so crisp. The reverse shows full feather definition, along with the shield lines. What really sets this coin apart is the extraordinary quality of the surfaces, for the fields and devices are pristine, and show virtually no signs of handling. This is quite remarkable given this is an early, 1812 dated Capped Bust half dollar. A fantastic opportunity for the date specialist. Pop 19; none finer at NGC for the date. Outstanding luster in the fields, and the strike is sharp enough to boldy define the curls on Liberty and all but a few wing feathers on the eagle. Study of the fields finds no detracting marks or handling issues, keeping this coin solidly in the gem class. A glorious gem! Pop 4; 1 finer in 66+ for the variety at NGC. 1834. Small date and letters. Overton-114, Rarity 1. NGC graded MS-65. Nice blue and golden toning covering lustrous fields on both sides. The reverse is extremely smooth, and is well matched in quality to the obverse. Elegant toning! The strike is sharp at the centers, but the stars show the usual softness on their central radial lines. This coin is simply amazing that it survived so well preserved from so long ago. The strike is sharp on all devices for this final year of issue of the Letterd Edge style Capped Bust half dollar. 1837. NGC graded MS-65+. Here is a boldly struck coin, which shows amazing definition on Liberty's hair as well as the eagle's feathers. The quality of the surface is simply stunning, with Liberty's cheek and neck bathed in unbroken luster. The fields are creamy and frosty. Lightly toned with silver gray and a few traces of pale gold on both sides. A tough two year type coin struck on the early steam press that commenced coinage when these were struck, with a trial run of 1836 Reeded Edge half dollars just prior. Impressive quality and bold visual appeal. Pop 1; 14 finer at NGC. Estimate Value $14,000 - UP
